General Questions

  • Like a physician who cares for the physical body, a jyotishi addresses the karmic issues of the causal body. We sometimes use preventative approaches, and at other times, we intervene when issues cause significant distress. It's important to understand that pursuing a spiritual path does not inherently require astrology, just as it does not necessarily involve marriage counseling or medical care. However, these resources can enhance your physical, mental, and overall wellbeing, empowering you to follow your spiritual journey more effectively.

  • In a consultation, you can explore areas of life such as purpose (Dharma), prosperity (Artha), relationships and desires (Kama), or spiritual growth (Moksha). However, to ensure we go deep into the topics most relevant to you, it’s best to focus on one or two areas during a single session. This allows us to thoroughly illuminate your understanding and provide practical remedies tailored to your needs.

    If you’re unsure where to start, we can also address a specific pressing question or unique situation that’s most important to you. Every session is designed to offer clarity, direction, and actionable guidance for your journey.

  • It may seem paradoxical that I ask for dates of past events when many expect Jyotisa (Vedic astrology) to focus solely on predicting the future. However, past events are the key to accuracy. Jyotisa relies on a precise birth chart as its foundation, and rectifying your birth time—by aligning it with significant moments in your life—ensures that predictions and remedies are reliable and effective.

    What is rectification, and why is it important?

    Rectification is the process of fine-tuning your birth time by comparing it to major life events, such as career changes, relationships, or significant milestones. This step is essential for creating an accurate astrological chart that aligns with your unique journey. Without this process, insights and predictions may lack the precision needed for meaningful guidance.

    How does rectification work in a session?

    During your session, I’ll ask you about key events from your past. Using these, I adjust your birth time as necessary to ensure your astrological chart reflects your life accurately. This process often involves minute adjustments and serves as the cornerstone for exploring your future with clarity and confidence.

  • Remedies are practical, personalized tools to help balance the planetary influences in your life. These may include bringing awareness on certain aspects, mantras, rituals, or practical lifestyle changes all designed to bring alignment and support your personal growth. Remedies are an integral part of Jyotisa’s approach to empowering individuals.

  • Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, which accounts for the shifting of the Earth’s axis, whereas Western astrology relies on the tropical zodiac. Namaste, I'm Divyam Sharma, founder of divyam.life. My quest has been to discover what lies beyond our visible senses. An appeal to the enigmatic. This led me to study the Tantric philosophy as elucidated by Abhinavagupta, where I was exposed to teachings that met exactly what I was looking for. Then, as the topic of Karma came up in my studies, I became fascinated with it. All of a sudden, a hope that life might not be entirely random dawned upon me. This eventually brought up the topic of jyotiṣa–an ancient Vedic discipline that illuminates the path forward, offering insights into the intricate dance of time, space, and human destiny.– and when it grew interesting enough for me to offer my intellectual flame in the Vedic fire (jyotiṣa is a Vedanga, or limb of the Veda, related with the eyes), I was blessed with direction to study this. As I walk this path, I'm absolutely humbled by the grace of Jagannath and my Gurudev Sri Sanjay Rath (and his senior students), who have taught me everything right that I know of jyotiṣa:
